I’m Agustín Díaz De Mera, MEP for Spain (Castilla y León) since 2004. A graduate in Modern and Contemporary History, I also have a degree in European Community Studies. My career in Ávila has taken me from positions as Senator, to City Councillor, President of the Partido Popular in Ávila, to President of the Senate Defence Committee. I was also Mayor from 1999 to 2002. In Europe, I served as President of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Demography of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (1997-2001). My work in the Parliament focuses on EU relations with Latin America and the Andean Community, and civil liberties, justice and home affairs. I was also Director-General of a Police Department from 2002-2004!
