I’m Dubravka Šuica and I come from the southern coastal city of Dubrovnik, where for two terms (2001 – 2009) I served as the first female Mayor. I was also a Member of Croatian Parliament for three terms and a Vice Chair of the EU Integration Committee.
I began my career in education, first as a teacher and then as Director of a large high school, so problems concerning youth, particularly unemployment, have always been my focus. Coming from Dubrovnik, I am also concerned with issues relating to tourism, culture heritage, fisheries, and transportation infrastructure, and as Vice-President of EPP Women, I have a special focus on women’s issues. I enjoy opening opportunities for the people of Croatia through the European Parliament and cooperating with my fellow MEPs.
