My name is Elisabetta Gardini, an Italian MEP representing the regions in the northeast of Italy. Since 2008, I have been a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and of the Delegation to the EU-Russia. On the national Italian level, I am a member of the Forza Italia party for which I was elected spokeswomen in 2004. Since 2005 I have been the regional Councillor on the Culture Committee in Veneto.
My legislative work in the European Parliament is highlighted by my role as rapporteur of the new European Civil Protection Mechanism. I believe the capacity to communicate is the most important skill that a member of parliament has to possess.
A politician should understand the role of dialogue as the link to both members of the constituency and to political opponents as to address their concerns.
