My name is József Szájer, MEP from Hungary since 2004. I was a founding member of the FIDESZ in 1988 and head of the Parliamentary Group of FIDESZ (1994-2002). I was deputy speaker of the Hungarian Parliament (2002 to 2004) and member of the European Convention (2002-2003). Since 2004 I have been the Vice-Chairman of the EPP Group, and I am currently responsible for the legislative work of the Group. I took a leading role during the recent Hungarian constitutional process as the chairman of the Drafting Committee on the Fundamental Law of Hungary.
