My name is Stanislav Polčák and I was born on 21 February 1980. I studied law at the Charles University in Prague from 1998 to 2003. Between 2000 and 2003, I studied at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the same university. In 2007, I passed the bar exams, and I was active in the field of law, first as a lawyer in a computer company and later as an assistant lawyer in a law firm (2003 and 2007).
From 2003, I became a member of the College of Experts on Copyright – Institute of Fine Arts Union. Between 2004 and 2007, I served as a local advisor and head of office to a Member of the European Parliament in the Czech Republic. From 2009 to 2012, I was an external lecturer at the University of Tomáš Baťa and at the Film School in Zlín.
Since 2009, I have been Vice-President of the Mayors and Independents (STAN) political party. In 2010, I was first elected to the Czech Parliament, Chamber of Deputies, where I served as Chairman of the Committee for Public Administration and Regional Development (2010-2012) and as Chairman of Legal and Constitutional Affairs (2012-2013). Since 2015, I have been Chair of the Association of Local Authorities of the Czech Republic.
I have been a Member of the European Parliament since 2014, and I speak German and English.
